Headphone Use

My girlfriend was telling me that wearing head phones for more than an hour a day was bad due to the bacterial build up in your ears from a lack of air movement. So I started to look into it and found this:

when you wear headphones, natural air can not pass in your ear. so, the production rate of bacteria in your ear increase by 700%. That is why, it is said that "wearing headphones for just an hour will increase the bacteria in your ear by 700 time".

After looking further into it I saw this part of an article:

At the beginning of the experiment, the typical headset had 60 microorganisms on its surface; after an hour's use of the headphones by a volunteer, that number went up to 650 - roughly 11, not 700, times more.

I just thought it was interesting. Its not like anyone is going to quit using their headset or start using a shitty bluetooth.

I try to take my headset off for at least a minute or so every once and awhile to breath some air into my ears. My ears get all hot and sweaty if I keep them on for too long.
